In the UAE, teenagers under 15 are banned from using social networks

The UAE government has adopted a resolution regulating children's access to social media platforms, including a ban on their use until the age of 15, the Emirati news agency WAM reports.

"The resolution sets the minimum age for using social media platforms at 15 years," WAM notes.

According to the agency, children under 15 are prohibited from creating, using, or managing personal accounts on social media platforms, as well as accessing all platform functions, including social interaction, posting messages, commenting, sharing information, joining public groups, or open channels.

"This step reflects the UAE's desire to create an advanced model for protecting children in the digital space, improving the digital security system, and keeping pace with rapid changes in the use of technology," WAM notes.
