Iran is further from creating nuclear weapons than ever, NATO secretary general believes

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte believes that Iran is further from creating nuclear weapons than ever before.

"All NATO countries agree that Iran should not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. Today, as a result of U.S. actions, Iran is further from obtaining nuclear weapons than ever before," he said, opening the NATO Council session at the level of defense ministers.

According to him, everyone in NATO is "inspired in anticipation of peace as a result of the agreement between the U.S. and Iran," which he believes is a "remarkable achievement." "Thank you, and of course thank you to the president of the United States," Rutte said, addressing Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.

He also noted that NATO countries will discuss their participation in efforts to maintain freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
